Time Turning Tresses

The best hairstyles to help you look younger

In the crusade against aging, there is a lot of focus on skin care and makeup, but did you know that the right hairstyles can turn back the clock as well? Here are some of the best hairstyles to make you look (and feel) younger!

Healthy Start
Just like good skin care, taking care of your tresses is important. Youthful hair is shiny and moisturized, so use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner on a regular basis. Once a week, give yourself a scalp massage and follow it up with a deep conditioner to give your hair a healthy boost. Regular trims also help prevent split ends and keep your hair from looking damaged. For shiny locks, apply a nourishing hair oil before heat styling and finish with a shine serum.

Bang It Out
Soft, gentle bangs are excellent to hide forehead wrinkles and other imperfections. Side-swept bangs are another option if you’re not too sure about fully committing. Try to avoid harsh, blunt straight-edged bangs, which can have the opposite effect and make you look older and harsh.

Layer It Up
One of the best styles for women with mid-length to long hair is a relaxed, long layered cut. The layers give your hair movement, volume and energy. Ask your stylist for face-framing layers that start at your chin to maintain length without being thin or stringy. If you have short hair, choppy layers throughout will make your hair look thicker and more playful. Style short layers with a pomade or wax to create an edgy, youthful texture.

Keep It Light
No matter what your hair color or skin tone, face framing highlights can add a gorgeous glow around your face, making it look brighter. Highlights can also draw attention to your cheekbones and eyes, giving your face a young, full appearance.
